The organisation HOMEWATCH has been re-launched and the Parish Council is looking for Co-ordinators on a street to street basis. The original Home Watch found this the most efficient, therefore a volunteer is sought from Warrington Road, Gosling Close, Hatton Lane East and Hatton Lane West. The co-ordinator for Hatton Lane West will be asked to represent Pillmoss Lane, Questybirch Lane and Summer Lane and could therefore reside in one of these locations. Please contact me at

before the 31st July 2010. The position is not onerous and will not require attending meetings. Put simply, we need a person in the areas specified to co-ordinate any police intelligence or information passed onto them and see that the residents in their locations are made aware of it. Thanking you, David Charles, Parish Clerk.

As the old shrub beds on the verges on Hatton Lane had become overgrown, and unmanageable, it was decided to completely renew them. We contacted Thorn Cross YOI and with the help of 7 young men, who were on a course of Garden Management, completely cleared the old beds, and asked Mr Stuart Hatton of Springbrook Nurseries to redesign and stock with shrubs that not only would look good, but would flower at various times of the year to encourage butterflies, and other wildlife. To do this we used monies donated to the village by the Creamfields Festival organisation. We now have plans to create another shrub bed between the 2 existing ones, and also are in the process of looking for funding to create Wildflower areas throughout the village. In the meantime, our efforts so far have been rewarded with the "Little Gem" award, as shown above. |
